LZHS Interact 2009-2010
Savin' the world since 1999
Hey! Welcome to Interact! Interact is Lake Zurich High School's service club. We're over 120 members strong and our numbers grow every year. Interact members volunteer in our schoool, community and in the world. As an Interact member, you'll have the opportunity to volunteer at local soup kitchens, package food and supplies for 3rd world countries, go to an all-expense-paid four day leadership conference, and a whole lot more!
So what are some benefits of being an Interact member? Tons! Interact members get an honors cord at graduation (with 2 years of membership), Interact looks great on college applications, Interact members are recognized with a certificate of membership in the LZ Interact club, may attend the Interact breakfast at the end of the year, make new friends (all over Illinois if you go to leadership conference), make connections with influencial people in the community, and most importantly, that warm fuzzy feeling of feeling of doing something good.
This year, Interact raised money to sponsor 12 children in Nicaragua to go to school. Above is a child that Interact is sponsoring through an organization called Love Light & Melody.

Lake Zurich Interact Club
Interact is Lake Zurich High School's service club. Our club was founded in 1999 and is sponsored by the Lake Zurich and Long Grove Rotary clubs. We're over 120 members strong and our numbers grow every year. Interact members volunteer in our schoool, community and in the world. As an Interact member, you'll have the opprotunity to volunteer at local soup kitchens, package food and supplies for 3rd world countries, go to an all-expense-paid four day leadership conference, and a whole lot more!
When We Meet
The Lake Zurich Interact Club meets every other Tuesday at 7:20 a.m. in the small auditorium. For a list of dates, see our calendar linked to on the left.
Requirements
To be an official Interact member, you will need to complete two basic requirements by the end of the year:
1. Attend 60% or more of our meetings. If you do not attend a minimum of 60% of our meetings you will not become an Interact member.
2. Complete 5 projects by the end of the year. Projects will be announced at meetings and include helping at soup kitchens, highway cleanups, packaging books and supplies for 3rd world countries, leadership conference, and much more.
At the end of the year, members who completed the requirements for the year will be invited to an Interact breakfast and will recieve a certificate acknowledging their membership in our club. They may also use Interact on college applications. If you are a senior and have been in Interact for at least two years, you will recieve an honors cord for graduation.
How We Will Contact You
Prior to meetings and projects, Interact members will recieve a text message and a facebook message.
You will only recieve a text message if you opted to recieve them during our online signup process.
If you no longer wish to recieve text messages, reply with "stop" to any Interact text message.
If you no longer wish to recieve facebook messages, simply remove yourself from our group.

Project/Attendance Matrix Update 3/4/10
Each "1" denotes a project (for example, 111 = 3 projects)
Each "X" denotes an attendance at a meeting (for example: XX = 2 meetings)
Example: 1XX11XXX = 3 projects, 5 meeting
You need 5 projects by the end of the year and attendance at atleast 60% of our meetings. Right now the minimum you should have is 5 Xs (62%) out of a total number of 8 meetings (we have had more than 8 but cancelled one Interact and at several meetings the bell rang before everyone could signin so we combined the signin with another meeting's sign in). If you have lower than 60%, start attending more meetings and your percent will go up. We are also considering "make-up" meetings so if you want to be safe or makeup a meeting, alert for announcements. Remember, if you have less than 60%, that number will go up as you attend more meetings.
We will be announcing more projects opprotunities soon.
Let us know if something is incorrect.
We're more than 1/2 way through the school year and you deserve to know where you stand in Interact. Check your up to date project AND attendance here. If you have any questions or think the project or attendance may be wrong for you for a date, please let us know by clicking the contact us link to the left OR text messaging us at 224-225-9545.
To be an Interact member (recieve an honors cord for graduation after two years of membership, attend the Interact breakfast, and use Interact on college apps) you must have 5 projects completed and have had attended a minimum of 60% of our meetings. If you don't have enough projects, we'll have another project push these next two quarters to allow everyone to have the opprotunity for getting all there projects. If you don't have enough attendance, we're toying with the idea of having one or two "idea" meetings on another day of the week where members can submit their ideas for Interact in the future - not a done deal yet though.

Freerice.com - Play a simple vocab game. For every correct answer, Free Rice will donate 10 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to help end hunger. More than 66 billion grains of rice have been donated to date.
Love Light & Melody - Love Light & Melody is an organization dedicated to battling extreme poverty. Love Light and Melody focuses on the city trash dump in Managua, Nicaragua, where nearly 1,500 live, work, and make their homes. The goal of Love Light & Melody is to identify and meet the immediate physical needs, raise awareness about the nearly 1,500 people living in a trash dump, and fight social injustice.
Emmaus House of Hospitality - In 2007 alone, Emmaus House of Hospitality served more than 8,300 meals at the St. Francis Community Dinner. Every week, donated food feeds more than 100 people every Sunday in Lake Zurich. Trader Joes, Pizza Hut, and KFC donate food to Emmaus House.
