HaIti Relief
On January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. With a death toll of over 110,000 so far and estimates predicting a potential death toll of over 200,000 human lives, please join recovery efforts to help the hundreds of thousands of displaced and wounded people in Haiti . We've listed a few ways you can help...

About Interact
About Interact...
Interact is a group of over 120 Lake Zurich High School students who participate in service projects throughout the year. Each member is required to have 5 projects completed by the end of the year in addition to attending a minimum of 60% of our biweekly meetings. Projects are announced by the Interact officers and can be anything from helping at a local community dinner to packaging meals to be shipped to 3rd world countries to writing letters to children in Nicaragua. There are more than 10,700 Interact clubs in 120 countries and geographical areas. More than 250,000 teens are involved in Interact. The Lake Zurich High School Interact Club has a record number of 119 members this year. Interact is sponsored by Rotary International, the world's first service club organization with more than 1.2 million members worldwide. Interact meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the small auditorium at 7:20 a.m. (at LZHS).

The Lake Zurich High School Interact Club is a service club dedicated to helping our community and world through various service projects that our members take part in throughout the world. For example, in 2007 Interact packaged first aid boxes and shipped them to 3rd world countries. The LZHS Interact Club is sponsored by the Lake Zurich Rotary Club. There are more than 250,000 Interact members worldwide in 120 countries.
Interact With Us
Over 300 LZHS students played in the 2nd Annual Charity Badminton Tournament (part of Charity Bash, a week of school wide fundraising efforts that raised over $44,000 this year). The Badminton Tournament raised over $1,600 this year.
LZHS Students play badminton on ten courts with five minute rounds.

Causes
There are a lot of causes out there...
There are tons of deserving charities in the world, and since Interact only meets every other week, we don't have time to support a ton of causes/charities. This page is broken up into two parts: one with projects that we'll most likely end up doing in Interact this year, and other causes that you and a couple friends could do. (Note: Only causes announced by Interact count as one of the required projects)

Freerice.com - Play a simple vocab game. For every correct answer, Free Rice will donate 10 grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to help end hunger. More than 66 billion grains of rice have been donated to date.
Faith Food Pantry - Faith Food Pantry has been serving Lake County residents for over 20 years. in the past 10 years, The Faith Food Pantry has distributed over 5 million meals.
Love Light & Melody - Love Light & Melody is an organization dedicated to battling extreme poverty. Love Light and Melody focuses on the city trash dump in Managua, Nicaragua, where nearly 1,500 live, work, and make their homes. The goal of Love Light & Melody is to identify and meet the immediate physical needs, raise awareness about the nearly 1,500 people living in a trash dump, and fight social injustice.
Emmaus House of Hospitality - In 2007 alone, Emmaus House of Hospitality served more than 8,300 meals at the St. Francis Community Dinner. Every week, donated food feeds more than 100 people every Sunday in Lake Zurich. Trader Joes, Pizza Hut, and KFC donate food to Emmaus House. Emmaus House also delivers around 700lbs of food every week to people in need.
Feed My Starving Children - In 2008, 310,000 volunteers packaged 73.6 million meals for children in more than 60 countries. Each meal costs only 17 cents to produce and the only thing needed to make the meal is boiling water.
Deborah's Place - For almost 25 years, Deborah's Place has assisted more than 12,000 homeless women in Chicago. Deborah's Place assists women find stable housing and a steady income.
The Salvation Army - The Salvation Army has more than 7,770 centers of operation which include thrift shops, day-care centers, medical facilities, and temporary housing. The Salvation Army has more than 3,418,000 volunteers and has assisted more than 29,104,000 people in 2007 and 2008. The Salvation Army assists more than 15,000,000 people with basic social services, over 4,000,000 people with holiday assistance, hundreds of thousands of people with day care, and also assists with many other needs people have.

In case you miss a meeting where we passed out handouts, you may get them online, at this page, in either PDF or MS Word format. Handouts posted here will usually be permission slips and waivers.

If you would like to contact Interact for any reason, please use the contact form to the right. If you are would like your message to be read by a specific officer member, please say so in the "Subject" field.
If you provided your email during signup, you should expect monthly emails from Interact. These emails will remind you of the two meetings during the month and will also let you know about upcoming projects.
